Kevin Wilkes founded the Princeton Design Guild in 1985 to support and advance the Arts & Crafts ideal of progressive design combined with skilled craft.

Princeton Design Guild has worked on over 500 residential projects across more than four decades. Originally focused on serving homeowners in the Princeton area, Princeton Design Guild has grown to work with clients throughout central New Jersey and beyond. Over the years, the firm has completed projects across the Tri-State area and throughout the East Coast.

Each project is approached as a unique design solution, shaped by the individual needs, lifestyle, and goals of the client.

Our commitment to sustainability through solar energy

Princeton Design Guild has made a significant commitment to solar energy through the installation of 170 solar panels at its Belle Mead campus. The system helps offset the firm's reliance on the local power grid while generating renewable energy to power its equipment and daily operations.

Our campus serves as the foundation of our integrated design-build practice. By bringing design and construction together in one location, we are able to foster collaboration, streamline communication, and support projects from concept through completion.

Kevin Wilkes

Founder & Managing Partner

Kevin Wilkes is an award-winning architect, builder, and civic leader based in New Jersey. As the founder of the Princeton Design Guild (PDG), Wilkes has spent over four decades pioneering a craft-based, design/build philosophy that seamlessly integrates architectural design with hands-on construction

Michael Kluck

Architect

Michael is a licensed architect with over 30 years of experience across residential, commercial, and hospitality markets. His designs span New Jersey, Florida, Montana, New York City, Pennsylvania, and the Bahamas, and have been featured in Fine Homebuilding. At PDG, he plays a lead role in project planning and execution, bringing a collaborative approach and rigorous attention to detail, quality, and client goals to every project.

Andy Avots

Construction Manager

Andrew holds a BS in Construction Engineering. After graduating, he founded his own custom home-building business in 1983. In 1995, upon returning to New Jersey from Florida, he joined PDG as a lead carpenter for our residential projects. He was promoted to Construction Manager in 2010, and he now leads our team of eight carpenters in general construction and project management. In his spare time, he enjoys attending vintage motorcycle rallies.

Marc Morris

Shop Manager

Marc began mastering his custom woodworking and cabinetmaking skills at age 13. He started his professional career in 1995 at a custom shop in Jobstown, NJ, advancing from apprentice to master cabinetmaker over 13 years. In 2008, he moved to a cabinetmaking role in Long Branch, NJ, before joining the growing PDG team in 2010 as a Lead Cabinetmaker, where he fabricated some of our most complex designs.

Promoted to Shop Manager in 2021, Marc now oversees all wood manufacturing projects originating from our 10,000-square-foot custom woodworking shop. He manages all CNC programming and fabrication, in-house finishing across our two state-of-the-art spray booths, and final installations, ensuring a comprehensive suite of services for our clients. Outside of work, Marc and his family enjoy visiting New Jersey state parks along the shore during the summer.
